Cyberpunk 2077 Will Let You Enter A Number of In-Game Buildings

"This adds a lot of space to the city, I would say," says quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.

CD Projekt RED’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is promising to be a massive game– among all things, the one element that signifies that better than anything else is probably its open world setting. Night City (and its outskirts) is going to provide a pretty huge playground for players to mess about in- but it’s not just about having a huge area as far as Cyberpunk 2077’s open world is concerned- it’s also about density.

Verticality and density in the game’s city is something that’s been on display since the moment CD Projekt RED re-revealed it a E3 last year, and it definitely looks like it’s going to be a major focus in the game when it launches next year. We got a chance to sit down for a chat about the game with its quest director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, and one of the things we asked about was the verticality and vertical elements in the game. According to Tomaszkiewicz, there will be a number of buildings in Night City that players will be able to enter (though not all of them), which he feels adds “a lot of space” to its open world.

“The city of course, is not only the landmass, but also the buildings,” Tomaszkiewicz told us. “There is a number of them that you can enter. Not all of them, but a number of them you can enter that we have prepared content for. They have levels, and you can traverse these levels in different ways. This adds a lot of space to the city, I would say.”

In the same interview, Tomaszkiewicz also spoke to us about details on weapon variety and customization, and whether or not there’s going to be a morality system in play. Our full interview with him will be going live soon, so stay tuned.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on April 16th, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
